These cute Valentine’s Day Mailbox Ideas will give you lots of inspiration for collecting your Valentine’s Day cards!
Every year my most popular Valentine’s Day craft project is not even a Valentine’s Day project at all. It’s a very cute cardboard mailbox that I made when my oldest really wanted to have a Post Office themed birthday party (for real, that’s what he wanted). My kids actually still play with it. There’s something very fun about delivering pretend mail. I think it’s the tiny envelopes.
Anyway, that got me thinking that there are sooo many cute Valentine’s Day mailbox ideas out there and so today I wanted to share some of my favorite from around the web with you. People get so creative with their Valentine mailbox ideas!
I don’t really remember this being a thing when I was a kid. I think we decorated a shoe box, but you did that during school and it was never much fancier than construction paper and markers. Now I know some schools have you make them at home and they get REALLY fancy. That’s not something my kids’ school does but I think it sounds fun. But if that’s not your thing, really, don’t stress, you can either use one of these ideas or just let your kids go with the old fashioned shoe box route! A decorated brown paper lunch bag works just fine too!
I was also thinking that this year in particular, Valentine’s mailboxes would be a really great way to share Valentines with friends while still keeping some distance. Especially if your kids aren’t actually in school in person. You could put your cute mailbox by your front door or on your porch and deliver your cards any time! I’m sure my kids will be doing this with your neighbors this year.
If you’re looking for printable Valentines to go with your DIY mailbox, here are some really cute mailbox themed printable Valentine cards that I whipped up last year. They turned out so cute!

Cut an opening for Valentines and poke two holes into top side of box for handles. Front of box will open from top and fold down. Paint one Licorice and let dry. Cut Craft paper to fit all sides of box and either glue or secure with double sided tape.
You can decorate a metal mailbox with spray paint, vinyl number or monogram decals, or line the inside with contact paper liner in a fun color or pattern. To update the look of a plain metal mailbox, consider adding a new mailbox post or decorating around your mailbox area with potted or planted flowers.
Books & Candles Basket: Fill a basket with a selection of romantic novels, scented candles and a cozy blanket for a relaxing night in. Personalized Basket: Make a basket of personalized items such as a custom photo album, a custom-made piece of art, or a special keepsake with a special message.
Put together a playlist of your favorite love songs, pay a visit to your favorite neighborhood locales (where you had your first date, perhaps?) and regale each other with stories about all the fun memories you've made together.
How about a pinch pot shaped like a heart for holding jewelry or keys, or a clever wind chime made with heart shaped cookies cutters. And many of these simple ideas are easy enough that the kids can help with a little oversight from an adult.
Designing cool cereal boxes using fascinating color schemes and graphics can raise their interest in your brand. You can design them in different themes. Print interesting cartoon characters on the boxes to grasp the kids' attention. Show your creativity by working on box shapes.
The heart-shaped boxes instantly became popular among young lovers, not only for the chocolates they harbored but for their usefulness afterward. Couples kept romantic keepsakes such as letters, locks of hair, jewelry, etc.inside their heart-shaped boxes to remind them of their sweetheart.
Simply take your existing post office keys to a locksmith, and have new keys cut as you would with most other keys. If a homeowner's association or apartment complex is the owner of your mailbox, you should be able to make duplicate keys. Just make sure to check what their policy on the matter is first.
