I’ve taken the last few weeks off from client consultations and been less prolific in writing articles and posts on my FB page.
I like to do this every few months and this one coincided with my wife and stepdaughter’s birthdays as well as Easter.
But it also included eclipse season.
The recent lunar eclipse at 5 Aries/Libra fell in square to my Sun (4 Capricorn) but more particularly was conjunct my ex wife’s Sun (3 Aries).
Other synastry that we have is her Cancer Ascendant is opposite my Capricorn one.
She has a Moon/Venus square aspect. Her Moon is opposite my Venus/Saturn and her Venus is square to mine.
I have Mars in mid Pisces. My relationship with my ex began in 1980 when my progressed Mars reached 4 Aries, in square to my own Sun and conjunct hers.
It is interesting that many married couples have quite challenging synastry. Oppositions and squares between their placements can act in a compulsive way, drawing people together who (if they wanted an easy life) should probably not be.
I mention this because it’s just one more of millions of examples where we believe we are in control of our lives and our choices, when the truth is we are absolutely not.
Major progressions will always bring into our lives members of our soul group.
One of these, generally linked to our progressed Venus is our soulmate, but as it’s true opposite, the progressed Mars can bring along our nemesis, someone that can best be described as our soulhate.
I have mentioned before that my previous marriage was a non intimate, dysfunctional one (I have a Venus /Saturn conjunction in Scorpio in square to a 7th house Pluto).
My ex has significant mental health issues and has Mars in Aquarius in the 7th house in opposition to Uranus in the 1st and forming a tight T Square with an apex Neptune in the 4th.
Within a few years of our relationship starting she discovered that she was a lesbian. Sadly her attempts to form relationships with women failed, so she stayed with me.
I know that our relationship had a karmic quality. She was responsible for my death in a previous life in 1915, confirmed by my own discovery of the technique of Secondary Regressions.
I had to spend a large part of this life with someone who would force me to work on myself.
For most of our life together, I was the primary target for her aggression. I realised fairly early on that to challenge or confront her would only inflame her more, so retreated into myself and my work as a hands on therapist and my astrology research and consulting.
We got together when her progressed Sun was trine her Saturn. My role in her life was to give her stability and security that she had never received from her family (T Square apex 4th house Neptune).
This bizarre state of affairs continued for 35 years. At the time I believed that my Venus/Saturn conjunction would deny me love in this lifetime because I was meant to do my work instead.
I now know that Saturn doesn’t deny, it just delays. You can’t go out to play until you’ve done your homework.
When transit Pluto conjoined my Moon, she had a breakdown and filed for divorce. Her mental health deteriorated significantly and she was sectioned because she was a threat to her neighbours.
After her spell in hospital, she stopped the divorce proceedings because she wanted me to look after her.
In the meantime however, my own progressed Venus had conjoined my Ascendant and I met my true soulmate (at the age of 63), so I finalised the divorce and left my previous monastic/hellish existence for a truly heavenly one on the other side of the world.
From time to time however, I (along with members of my family and friends) still receive a barrage of hateful and delusional messages from my ex wife. This usually happens when her chart is being triggered by difficult transits.
And in that respect, the lunar eclipse didn’t disappoint, although it’s only been in the last week that the most recent email tsunami has occurred.
My feeling about eclipses is that while they are most likely to trigger significant events in the fortnight leading up to them, any point between the Full Moons preceding and succeeding them can be affected. So basically a period of up to 2 months.
I sometimes wonder what would have happened if I’d not fallen in love and stayed with my ex. Maybe I would have ended up like Phil Hartman.
” Phil Hartman was a Canadian-born American comedian, actor, screenwriter, and graphic designer.He did eight seasons on Saturday Night Live and was the voice of several characters in the Simpsons.
Hartman met Brynn Omdahl in 1986 on a blind date, they married the following year. With their two kids, Birgin, six, and Sean, nine, they appeared a devoted family. Deeper investigation revealed that the Hartman’s had bitter arguments and he had been preparing to leave the marriage, his third divorce. Emotionally, he and Brynn were opposites. Where she was volatile and insecure, he was outwardly genial but inwardly aloof, often withdrawn in private. He once remarked, “I go into my cave and she throws grenades to get me out.” During arguments, Brynn would explode and Phil withdraw, going to bed and sleep. In the morning everything would have blown over.
On May 28, 1998, Brynn shot Phil to death as he slept at 2:00 to 2:30 AM. She then drove to a friend’s house, incoherent and frantic. Her friend calmed her down and they returned to her million dollar mansion in Encino. When Brynn locked herself in the bedroom with her husband’s body, her friend called 911 emergency and the police were removing the two kids from the house when they heard another shot. It was Brynn who killed herself with a single shot to the head.”
As you can see, Phil Hartman’s chart has a very strong focus on the 7th and 8th signs and houses.
His Sun is in Libra in the 8th house of death in square to Uranus.
He has a tight Venus/Pluto conjunction in Leo in the 7th house in close square to Mars in Scorpio.
He also has Saturn in the 7th house.
Clearly not the recipe for a happy marriage.
Brynn was Phil’s third wife, the others had lasted no more than three years.
One interesting feature is that the Sun is semi square (45 degrees) both Mars and Venus/Pluto.
I don’t normally write much about semi squares but in this type of pattern, they are important.
There is a planetary aspect picture that I am going to call a Semi T Square, with two (or more) planets in square to each other and a third that is semi square them both acting as the apex of this picture.
In Phil Hartman’s chart the apex of his Semi T Square is the 8th house Libra Sun, which makes sense as he was murdered by his wife.
This pattern becomes particularly important when it comes to progressions.
It’s obvious that Phil’s death at the hands of Brynn is indicated by his Venus/Pluto conjunction in the 7th in square to Mars.
Phil’s progressed Venus would not have reached the conjunction with his Mars until 2022, more than two decades after his death.
But as the Sun is the apex of this pattern, his Venus progression to conjoin it would have been even more significant than normal.
When progressed Venus reaches a conjunction with the Sun, an extremely important member of one’s soulgroup makes an appearance in their life.
If that Sun is in the 8th house at the apex of a Semi Tsquare involving a 7th house Venus, Pluto and Mars in Scorpio, that soulmate will be the soulhate.
In 1986-87, when Phil met and married Brynn, his progressed Venus was conjunct his Sun, square his Uranus and semi square his Venus, Pluto and Mars.
Brynn Hartman was born two weeks after my ex and has some similar placements. Instead of Mars forming the T square with Uranus and Neptune, she has the Moon and her ruler Mercury turning it into a Grand Cross.
Both the Sun and Mercury are in the 8th house, highlighting the theme that she is best known for.
The strongest thing about the Hartman’s synastry is that Brynn’s Mars at is opposite Phil’s Venus/Pluto and square his own Mars.
But this is the key.
Because in 1986, when they met, Brynn’s progressed Sun was square to her Mars.
So they were both each other’s soulhate.
And in 1998 Bryan proved it when she killed her husband and herself as her progressed Sun was square to her Pluto.
Given all this, it seems very likely that Phil and Brynn have some unfinished karmic business. I would expect they have a few things to come back and work through together.
Although she’s been dead for over a quarter of a century, in October 2024, Brynn’s progressed Venus will form a square with her Mars.
At exactly the same time Phil’s progressed Venus will be square his own Venus, triggering the Semi T Square yet again.
Somewhere on this planet Phil and Brynn are about to meet up again.
Should we try and warn him?
Best not, because there’s just the faintest possibility that he might be about to spend the next 35 years doing astrology research.
