Black Mafia Family (BMF) is a biographical crime drama on the Starz network that aired its Season 2 finale in March 2023. Loosely based on the criminal empire built by brothers Demetrius and Terry Flenory in Detroit, the rags-to-riches story takes a most intriguing turn when the BMF attempts to enter the hip-hop music scene and go legitimate.

With Season 3 renewed by Starz and given a January 19, 2024, release date, now is as good a time as any to meet the cast of characters in BMF and the supremely talented actors who portray them. From veteran TV actors to promising newcomers alike, the versatile cast of BMF is among the show's absolute strengths.

Demetrius Flenory Jr. as Big Meech

Lending the utmost authenticity to the show, Demetrius Flenory Jr. portrays his real-life father, Demetrius "Big Meech" Flenory in BMF. Big Meech is a charming and charismatic drug dealer in Detroit, Michigan, who uses his connections and ambition to climb the ranks of the criminal underworld. Growing up in a religious household, family means everything to Meech, and he is willing to risk his life to protect his parents and siblings.

Flenory Jr. is an actor, singer, and rapper who recently broke into movies and television. Before being cast to portray his father's life story on BMF, Flenory Jr. made a memorable appearance on the hit HBO series Euphoria, playing the role of Travis in the Season 2 premiere. Flenory Jr.'s only other acting credit thus far includes the 2022 musical drama Taurus.

Da'Vinchi as Terry "Southwest T" Flenory

Da'Vinchi (Abraham D. Juste) plays Terry "Southwest T" Flenory in the acclaimed Starz original TV show. Terry is Meech's little brother and the youngest son of the Flenory family. Thanks to Terry's brilliant business mind and economic strategizing, he proved to be a perfect partner for Big Meech to expand their empire. However, Terry is conflicted about being a new dad and becoming the first in the family to graduate high school, goals that weigh on his conscience throughout.

After beginning his career as a rapper and spoken word poet, Da'Vinchi broke into acting via the 2018 TV show JessicaJones. One of the most exciting actors working today, Da'Vinchi went on to play Cash Mooney in the sitcom spinoff Grown-ish before starring as Darnell Hayes in the popular sports drama All-American. Da'Vinchi also starred in the 2023 TV movies Real Love and Strength of a Woman, playing the role of Ben in both.

Russell Hornsby as Charles Flenory

Russell Hornsby plays Charles Flenory, the patriarch of the Flenory family and father of Big Meech and Southwest T. Charles is a devout man of faith who tries to instill the moral principles he follows in his children. As a struggling musician, Charles also attempts to warn his sons about the perils of the music industry and keep them from making dire mistakes. While strict, Charles also has a sharp sense of humor that he often uses as a weapon.

Hornsby is a veteran movie and TV actor with 30 years of experience. His most famous movie roles include playing Maverick Carter in The Hate U Give and Lyons in Fences. Regarding television, fans will almost certainly recognize Hornsby most for his 123-episode run as Hank Griffin in the fantasy series Grimm, a role he continued in the two spinoff series, Grimm: BadHair Day and Grimm: Meltdown.

Michole Briana White as Lucille Flenory

Michole Briana White portrays Lucille Flenory on the highly bingeable crime show. Lucille is Charles' wife and the mother of Meech, T, and daughter Nicole. Tough-minded and strong-willed, Lucille relies on her devout faith to keep her family intact. When Terry gets shot by a rival gang member, Lucille gets involved in a messy hospital lawsuit and considers sending Terry away for rehabilitation.

Briana White brings a wealth of acting experience to BMF. Although her role as Lucille Flenory represents her most significant TV character, Briana White has made brief appearances on some of the most popular sitcoms on record, including The Wonder Years, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Family Matters, Atlanta, and more.

Laila Pruitt as Nicole Flenory

Laila Pruitt plays Nicole Flenory in BMF. Nicole is Meech and Terry's little sister and the youngest sibling in the Flenory family. Nicole wants little to do with her brother's criminal empire and is devastated when her new boyfriend, Darius, is stabbed and killed by Lamar, Meech's chief rival. Darius' death further divides Nicole from her brothers as the series advances.

Nicole Flenory marks Pruitt's longest-running acting role in her young career. After making her screen debut in Robert Zemeckis' 2012 movie Flight, Pruitt has shown up in an episode of the Freeform TV series Everything Is Gonna Be Okay. Pruitt also played a Dance DJ in the Paramount+ original movie Secret Headquarters and Young Deja in the BET+ holiday romance movie Rolling Into Christmas.

Eric Kofi-Abrefa as Lamar Silas

Eric Kofi-Abrefa plays the main series antagonist, Lamar Silas. Lamar was the top drug dealer in Detroit until he was arrested and sent to jail. Lamar tries to regain control of his territory after being released from jail, putting him into direct conflict with Meech and Terry. Meech and Lamar begin a street war for supremacy, which results in Lamar being shot and put in a coma. Lamar escapes from the hospital and mounts a revenge campaign of his own.

Kofi-Abrefa is finally starting to receive the flowers he deserves as a talented actor. He's played many background characters in such movies as Snowden, and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. While BMF represents his most substantial TV role, Kofi-Abrefa recently starred as Noah Webster in the beloved Hulu original seriesHarlots and Mark Bailey in Netflix's sci-fi series The One.

Kash Doll as Monique

Kash Doll (Arkeisha Antoinette Knight) plays Monique in BMF. Monique is the strong single mother of Zoe and Tiara, daughters she had with Lamar before he went to jail. Monique is also romantically involved with Meech, something Lamar isn't too happy about when he is released. Torn between her affection for Meech and her willingness to protect her daughters, things end tragically for Monique on the show.

Kash Doll is a Detroit-based rapper who made her transition into acting in 2018. Her credits include Birds of a Feather 2, IGot the Hookup 2, and two episodes of Empire, in the latter of which she portrayed herself. While BMF represents her most prominent fictional character, Kash Doll has contributed to five musical soundtracks. Her most recent contribution includes the song "Hoops" from Space Jam: A New Legacy.

Myles Truitt as B-Mickie

Myles Truitt portrays B-Mickie, the close childhood friend of Meech and Terry. As such, B-Mickie becomes the third in command in Meech's 50 Boyz gang. However, B-Mickie is tired of living in the shadow of his friends and wants to break out and do his own thing. The series takes a massive turn when B-Mickie begins secretly working with Lamar behind Flenory's back.

As a clear standout on BMF, it's no surprise Truitt has mounted such an impressive resume in a short time. Aside from appearing in Kin and Dragged Across Concrete, most fans will recognize Truitt for his role as Patrick McKinney in Season 4 of Netflix's Stranger Things. Truitt also played Issa Williams on Black Lightning, proving he can play comedy, drama, fantasy, and horror with convincing results.

Steve Harris as Von Bryant

Steve Harris portrays Detective Von Bryant. Detective Bryant is a corrupt cop who works with Big Meech to sell drugs in Detroit. However, when Bryant is assigned to stop Meech's drug operation, the two have a falling out, and Bryant becomes one of Meech's primary enemies on the show. When Bryant's partner Lopez gets killed, his loyalties become tested even further.

With over 60 credits since 1985, Harris is the most experienced actor in BMF. In addition to starring in such crime movies as the popular Michael Bay movieThe Rock and Steven Spielberg's Minority Report, Harris may be remembered best for his career-defining turn as Eugene Young on the legal drama The Practice. Harris played Young for all eight seasons and 167 episodes, earning two Primetime Emmy nominations for his stellar performance.

Tyshon Freeman as Hoop

Tyshon Freeman plays Hoop in BMF. Hoop is a fiercely loyal member of the BMF who is willing to protect Meech and Terry at all costs. Hoop also has a morbid sense of humor and is quick to laugh in the face of violent danger, a quality that is both a blessing and a curse at times on the beloved crime show. Hoop often provides much-need levity and comic relief on the show, which makes his character likable despite his criminal activity.

Freeman began his young acting career in 2017 by appearing in an episode of The Walking Dead. That led to Freeman being cast on the TV series The Quad, his second longest-running TV role after BMF. Since ending his run on The Quad, Freeman has participated in such TV shows as The Gifted, FBI: Most Wanted, and P-Valley.
