Materials you’ll need:

– Super bulky weight yarn- Chenille/velvet yarn- Parfait Chunky 100% polyester, 100 g, 120 m
colors-

Rose turtle-30gr dark pink, 15 gr light pink, and 20 gr green

Daisy turtle-15gr yellow, 15gr white, 35gr dark green
– crochet hook size 4 mm

– Poly fiber fill for stuffing
– tapestry needle

-safety eyes- 20, 25, or 30mm (a pair)

The free crochet rose, and daisy flower turtles are crocheted using bulky plush yarn. If you use the same yarn, your turtles will work fast and be as soft as clouds.

However, it can be challenging for a complete beginner or someone who is using this yarn for the first time. You must be very careful not to miss any stitches.

Nevertheless, I will recommend you use bulky acrylic yarn if you dislike the plush or have never worked with it before. Or why not give it a try with a small project like the rose turtle?

Stitch Abbreviation:

SC- single crochet

SS- slip stitch

CH- chain

Rep- repeat

Inc- increase (make 2 SC in the same stitch)

Dec- decrease ( work 2 SC stitch together)

MR- magic ring

HDC- half double crochet

TR-treble crochet (triple crochet)

– repeat the stitches in the ** indicated times

FO- fasten off

Pattern notes:

The pattern is written in US crochet terms.

The pattern is worked in continuous rounds. Do not join your rounds.

We will crochet the fins and head and join them as we go, so you don’t need to sew any parts later. This makes the pattern completely no-sew.

There are instructions for both turtles.

Use a stitch marker or piece of yarn to mark your first stitch.

Stuff your turtle well but don’t overdo it!

Special Stitch:

Working in the third loop of the HDC stitch, this loop is located just behind and nearly parallel to the normal loops that typically work.

No Sew Crochet Rose Turtle Free Pattern

Crochet Rose turtles’s fins (make 4):

-with a green color

Rnd 1: Start with a MR, and make 6 SC into it (6)

Rnd 2: *inc 1* 6 times (12)

Rnd 3: *inc 1, SC in next* 6 times (18)

Rnd 4: SC in each stitch around (18)

Now, fold the circle and turn it into a semicircle. Join both sides with an SC stitch to close. FO.

Crochet Rose Turtle’s Head:

-with a green color

Rnd 1: Start with a MR, and make 8 SC into it (8)

Rnd 2: *inc 1* 8 times (16)

Rnd 3: *inc 1, SC in next* 8 times (24)

Rnd 4-9: SC in each stitch around (24)

Rnd 10: *SC in next 2, dec 1* 6 times (18)

Rnd 11: *dec 1* 9 times (9) FO.

Stuff the head.

Insert the eyes after round 7. Leave 10-11 stitches between them.

Crochet Rose Turtle’s Body:

-with pink color

Throughout rounds 1-6, we will work in the third loop of HDC we made in the previous round. (SEE special stitch section above)

Rnd 1: Start with a MR, and make 8 HDC into it (8)

Rnd 2: *inc 1* 8 times (16)

Rnd 3: *inc 1, HDC in next* 8 times (24)

Rnd 4: *inc 1, HDC in next 2* 8 times (32)

Rnd 5: *inc 1, HDC in next 3* 8 times (40)

Fasten off. Before we continue with the body, we will make the petals of the rose. Once you finish the petal base, you will see that we have a spiral line of stitches. This results from working in the HDC stitch’s third loop.

How to make the Rose petals:

Insert your hook in the first stitch and pull a loop. Make SC 1, HDC 1 into that first stitch, 3 DC in next, HDC 1, SS in next (first petal done), *(SC 1, HDC 1 in next), 3 DC in next, (HDC 1, SS 1 in next)* rep till you have 2 sts left, (HDC 1, DC 1 in next), (DC 1, SS in last). FO.

Continue on the body:

-attach a light pink color

Rnd 6: SC in each stitch around (40)

In the next round, we will join the turtle’s fins and head as we crochet along!

Please check the photo tutorial provided first to better understand the round!

When attaching the body, pinch the head to flatten and attach through the 4 stitches. Make sure that you are going through both the head and the body layers.

Before attaching the head, make sure your eyes are on both sides symmetrically.

Rnd 7: SC in next 5, attach the first fin through the next 2 stitches with SC, SC in next 4. Attach 2^nd fin through the next 2 stitches. SC in the next 4. Attach the head through the next 4 stitches. SC in the next 4. Attach 3rd fin through the next 2 stitches. SC in the next 4. Attach the last fin through the next 2 stitches, SC in next 7 (40)

Check the pictures below!

While we join the first 2 fins, you must place them with the wrong side facing you and the round side facing out (your right).

Before you start attaching the head, make sure that your eyes are on both sides symmetrically.

Pinch your head and join it over the next 4 sts. Make sure that you are going through both sides of the head and the stitch from the body. Don’t forget to check the eyes on the sides and not up or down after joining.

Picture 3. Joining the third and fourth fin.

Place the fin with the wrong side facing you and the round side facing left. Join it over the first and second stitch of the fin.

Continue on the body:

Rnd 8: *SC in next 3, dec 1* 8 times (32)

Rnd 9: *SC in next 2, dec 1* 8 times (24)

Start filling the turtle and continue as you crochet along!

Rnd 10: *SC in next, dec 1* 8 times (18)

Rnd 11: *dec 1* 9 times (9)

Close the gap with a tapestry needle. Go through the front loop of each stitch and pull to close. Secure with a knot.

How to make the tail:

Take your hook and green color yarn. Insert your hook around the stitch before your last stitch of round 5(the last round made with dark pink), pull a loop and chain 4, SC in 2^nd from your hook, HDC in next, DC in last. Skip one stitch of the body and join with SS in the next stitch- attaching the tail to the body.

How to secure the head to the body:

Take a tapestry needle and green color yarn. Insert your hook through 3-4 stitches of the body, and repeat the same for the head. Pull to tighten and secure with a knot.

Crochet Daisy Turtle Pattern

The head and fins of both turtles are the same. The only differences are the flower base and petals.

Crochet Daisy turtle body:

-with a yellow color

Rnd 1: Start with a MR, and make 8 HDC into it (8)

Rnd 2: *inc 1* 8 times (16)

Rnd 3: *inc 1, HDC in next* 8 times (24)

Rnd 4: *inc 1, HDC in next 2* 8 times (32)

The next round is worked in the third loop of HDC we made in the previous round. Only the next round!

FO yellow color and attach white.

Rnd 5: *inc 1, HDC in next 3* 8 times (40)

FO white and attach green color.

Rnd 6: SC in each stitch around (40)

Leave the body and continue with the petals. We will work in the stitches of round 5.

Insert your hook in the first stitch and pull a loop, CH 2, TR in next, (TR in next, CH 3, SS in same), *(SS in next, CH 4, 1 TR in same), (1 TR in next, CH 3, SS in same)* rep till the end.

FO. Weave ends in!

Continue on the body.

The remaining part of the body and attachment are the same as the rose turtle’s. Follow the rose turtle pattern from round 7 onwards.

Congratulations! You finished your turtle.
