Happy Valentine's Day, IOD family! 💖 Today's all about love, but who says it’s only about chocolates and flowers? Let's sprinkle some of that love on one of our recent thrift scores - a tarnished silver tray. This one is so simple and quick but equally lovely!

You’ll paint your tray with your paint of choice (we used chalk paint) - you’ll probably need several coats to get a nice opacity. Once your paint is fully dry, you’ll apply your transfer of choice. We’ll be applying this darling scene with a little girl in her bonnet, with romantic roses trailing up the side - don’t you just love that vintage typography?

You’ll finish with a top coat in the finish of your choice (we used a flat-out matte). Now, where should we put this little cutie? Wouldn’t it be adorable on a tea table? Or a coffee table vignette? Or to hold jewelry? This project is perfect for many different seasons, so choose the transfer set that matches the vibe you're going for, and be sure to bookmark this one for upcoming seasons!

And because it's Valentine's Day, let's throw in a fun fact to sweeten the deal. Did you know the first Valentine's note was actually a poem from 1415? Yep, Charles, Duke of Orléans, was the OG romantic, sending love letters while imprisoned in the Tower of London to his wife. Captured in battle, but not in spirit, he penned his feelings, proving love knows no bounds. And guess what? This love note is currently in the British Library, still making hearts flutter centuries later. Talk about setting the bar high for Valentine's Day! (if you want to see the original poem, check it out here.)
