John Dawson Myers, born April 29, 2008 to Barbara Ann Turbyfill Myers and John Corish Myers of the Fairview community, died at his home on March 12, 2023. He was a ninth-grader at A.C. Reynolds High. In addition to being an excellent student, he was a member of the JV and Varsity football teams and was beloved by all. Dawson was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Frances Dawson Joiner Myers and Frederick Myers, Jr., and by his maternal grandfather, Ivan Turbyfill. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Ella Turbyfill Smith and step-grandfather Larry Smith, and by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Groce Funeral Home is handling arrangements. No public visitation is planned but there will be a graveside service on Sunday, March 19, at 4:00 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Park, 392 Tabernacle Road, Black Mountain, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to A. C. Reynolds High School, earmarked for Athletics, One Rocket Drive, Asheville, NC 28803.

Frances Joiner Myers passed away at the family home in Swannanoa on Saturday, January 26 following a long illness. Frances was born in Montgomery, Alabama on June 27, 1928, the daughter of Homer Alex Joiner and Dorothy Thornbury Joiner. Her father was an executive with Swift & Co., and Frances grew up in several cities as the family moved around the country before finishing high school at Christ the King in Atlanta. She attended Siena College and became an administrative assistant before marrying Frederick Myers, Jr. on June 10, 1950. She was the loving center of a home for Fred and their six children, the wife of a county extension agent, farmer and feed sales manager. In 1985 they built their dream home at the head of a cove on their farm in Swannanoa. Frances was a talented quilter and gardener and a volunteer with Meals-on-Wheels and in her parish churches as well as a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She leaves her husband, Fred, and their six children, Fred (Ilsa) Myers of Amherst, MA, Fran (Doug) Thigpen of Swannanoa, Beth (Jim Mills) Myers of Creston, CA, Peggy (Ray) Knopp of Swannanoa, Mary Ann Myers of Asheville and John (Bobbi) Myers of Fairview. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Benjamin Myers, Sarah Bourgeois, Hannah Myers, Andrew Thigpen, Lindsay, Sam and Whitten Knopp and Dawson Myers, and by her great granddaughter, Maeve Myers.
