Laura Coates was born on July 11, 1980, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. Her parents are Norman Coates (father) and Martha Yarboro Coates (mother). Laura has two siblings: sisters, Tracey Coates and one other sister whose name has not been revealed.
Education
Laura Coates attended Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs in New Jersey, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2001. Thereafter, she enrolled at the University of Minnesota Law School in Minneapolis, where she received a Juris Doctor in 2005.
Career
Laura Coates began her legal career in private practice. She started working as an attorney in Minnesota and New York, handling cases ranging from intellectual property litigation and First Amendment issues to Defamation and Media law.
