Rose wakes up feeling a cold emptiness in her arms. She slowly opens her eyes and finds herself alone in the bed.
Well, this is unusual.
She gets up and walks out of the room. She walks through the hallway, her white shirt and shorts flowing in the air. She walks into the living room and finds Ruby sitting on the couch, hugging her legs, with her knees to her chest, shaking like a feather in the wind. She notices her wrists, red and scarred, for the first time in weeks.
She looks up at her sister as she wipes the tear traces off her cheeks. Rose immediately runs up and sits on her knees on the couch, next to her. As much as Ruby tries to avoid looking at her concerned sister, Rose hugs her and buries her face in her chest, caressing her hair.
They sit in silence for a while. Silence, except Ruby's sobs as she cries like it's the end of the world. After a while, Ruby tries to talk under her sobs. She only manages to blurt out an incomprehensible sentence. She swallows and tries again.
-P-Please... L-Leave me alone...
-What..?
-I don't... I don't w-want you to see m-me like this...
-You idiot... What are you talking about? Why are you crying?
-I-I'm sorry...
-Shh... It's okay... No rush, take your time. But tell me what's bothering you.
Ruby makes a dissatisfied sound under her gentle weeps. Rose hugs her tighter for a second before pulling away and sitting down properly. She takes her sister's hands, ignores the scars and forces her to look in her eyes.
-What's bothering you, love?
-L-Love?
-Yeah. So, tell me.
-I... I've d-done bad things b-before... Behind your back... I-I feel so guilty... I hate myself for those things... A-And I'm just a horrible--
-Don't finish that sentence. What do you mean by bad things?
-Unforgivable things...
-The only unforgivable thing I see here is your wrists. You were doing so well, it's been weeks. I guess I couldn't keep you away from your thoughts well enough, huh?

-Look, the only thing I'd be mad about is you being distant from me with something like this. I want to, no, I need to know what the thing is that upsets you so much.

Ruby watches as Rose leaves the room with quick steps. Her naked feet hitting the hardwood floor, and her clothes flowing in the air. After a while, she comes back. Walking in the same speed as before,only now with bandages, cotton balls, and a disinfectant in her hands. She sits down again and grabs one of Ruby's hands, flipping it over to reveal the wounds.
-Jesus...
-I'm sorry I'm making you do this again...
-It's not doing this that upsets me.
-Right... I'm sorry...
-It's gonna hurt. Are you ready?
-M-Mhm.

-Ah~!

-W-Wait, stop, s-stop!
-It hurt that much?
-Y-Yeah...
-Oh... I'm sorry, baby... Please just try to endure it, okay? It's gonna be way worse if this gets infected.

After ensuring she's okay to continue, Rose keeps going. Through her sounds of pain,she feels a drop of water hit her arm. She falls silent and looks up, seeing her sister looking down enough to completely hide her face. She watches as Rose wipes her eye with the back of her hand and continue as if nothing happened.
-Rose..?
-H-Hm?
-Are you...
...
-...crying?
-N-No, of course not. I'm just trying to do this, if you'll allow me.
-Then why are you hiding your face?
Rose doesn't respond, and grabs Ruby's other hand instead. She gently runs her thumb on the cuts as a couple more tears fall. Ruby tries talking to her. She doesn't respond at first, but manages to piece together a sentence under her quiet sobs.
-Ruby, I'm sorry...
-For what?
-I... I failed t-to keep you from doing this again... I'm worthless...
-No, what?!
...
-Please never say that again...
-S-Sorry... But it's the truth.
-Here, give me the thing, I'll finish it. Please go lie down or something.
-No..! L-Let me at least do this... I couldn't stop you, but I can at least help.
-It's not your fault! None of this is your fault! Don't you always tell me to be kinder towards myself? Maybe it's time you take your own advice!

-I'm sorry for raising my voice... Go ahead.
Not wanting to push her any further, she lets her sister continue. As Rose finishes bandaging Ruby's arms, she straightens up and look in her sister's eyes. They hold eye contact for a while before Rose hugs her, apologizing almost inaudibly. Ruby pushes her by her shoulders and kisses her in response.
Although startled, Rose closes her eyes and lets her sister kiss her. After a while, Ruby pulls away, cups her sister's cheek, and wipes away her tears with her thumb. Rose gently grabs her wrist with both her hands and tilts her head into Ruby's hand, making a satisfied moan.
-Your hand is so warm...
-Thank you, Rosie. And I'm sorry for making you worry.
-I love it when you call me that...
-What? Rosie?
-Yeah...
-I won't call you that anymore if you don't stop thinking you're in the wrong in every situation.
-N-No...
-I'm sorry, but I will.
-I'll... I'll try.
-Good.
-How are you feeling, honey?
-I'm okay. Better. Thank you.
-Are you hungry?
-No.
-Are you thirsty?

-Do you need to pee?

-Do you want anything at all?

Ruby slips her hand in between Rose's legs, over her shorts, and hugs her, buying her face in her sisters neck. She lightly kisses and bites her neck.
-It's okay, sweetie.
-R-Ruby... N-No...

-Y-Yeah, it's the b-bodywash I bought yesterday. M-Mhh...

Rose moves closer and sits on her thigh. Ruby moves her hand to her ass and slips it under her shorts, pulling them down and revealing her butt in the process. Rose unintentionally starts gently moving her hips back and forth, rubbing on her sisters thigh.
-It's cold. My butt's exposed...

Rose leans into her ear and whispers, making Ruby chuckle. She lifts her sister by her armpits and lays her down on the couch, sitting in between her legs.

In the evening of that day, Rose calls out to her sister, standing in the doorway. Ruby sits up on the living room couch, looking at her with confused, hopeful eyes.
-What?
-Get ready!
-Where are we going?
-Hehe~ I'm taking you out.
-Wait, really?!
-Yep~
Ruby jumps to her feet and runs up to her sister, hugging her. Rose almost falls back, but hugs her back and manages to keep her balance. She grabs Ruby's shoulders and pulls her back a bit, giving her a quick kiss on the lips.
-Where did the idea come from?
-Does it have to come from somewhere?
-No, of course not.
-Well, I just thought I'd treat you. I felt you need to have a good time.
-Whenever I get to spend time with you is a good time for me, Rosie!
-Yeah, yeah, go get ready.
-Okay! It'll just take a second!
-Oh, and sweetie!
-Yeah?
-Don't cover up your wrists, it's hot today. Just wear something pretty for me, mkay?

Ruby runs off and goes to her room. After picking out her outfit, she does a light make up, and wears her green contact lenses and glasses. Rose watches her walk up to her from in front of the front door. Wearing a white, short skirt and a white, short sleeved blouse. Her short, brown hair flowing as she walks.
Rose watches her beautiful sister walk towards her, frozen still. Ruby watches as a warm smile forms on her sister's face, before she grabs her hands and calls out her name, snapping her back.
-You're beautiful...
-So are you.
-Ready to leave?
-Yeah. Wait... Are you not wearing lipstick?
-Huh? No?
-We gotta fix that~
Ruby pulls her hands and gets closer, carefully laying her lips on her sister's. After a long, still kiss, she pulls back and opens her eyes.
-Well... Did it work?
-Hmm... Not really.
-Oh.
-But it was worth the try.
-Definitely. So, beauties first.
-Well, then I'll follow behind you.
-Whatever, just walk out. I'm holding the door open like an idiot.
-Hehe, sorry~
After Ruby walks out, Rose follows her, stopping to lock the door. They get in a taxi together and drive off.
